Wonderfest features a weekend of science for everyone. This event is held each fall at both Stanford and UC Berkeley and is free and open to the public. Renowned scientists offer free public lectures on a wide variety of science topics in terms understandable to the lay public. Top-winning teams of high school students face off in a competition to test their knowledge of a wide variety of scientific facts and concepts. The winning team then competes for fun with a group of professors to test their scientific knowledge. The event also awards the Carl Sagan Prize to a renowned scientist who has made major contributions to the populariozation of science. Wonderfest is produced as a public service by the Branson School in Ross, CA, and is co-sponsored by Stanford\'s Chemistry Department and UC Berkeley\'s Physics Department .
