The K-12 Lab at the design institute is launching winter quarter with the following project teams:

The Tech Challenge / After-school Team
We are designing the 2010 Tech Challenge for the Tech Museum, and continuing to work with the Girl Scouts and summer camp organizations. Large audience!

The International Team
What does design thinking look like in education abroad? We have partners in India and Bhutan and possible others…

The Student Experience Team
How do we tap into what students care about and get feedback on our work?

The Technology Team
We need to establish an online community. How do we spread our work and foster online collaborative environments? There is potential work with education-related location based gaming as well…

The Curriculum / Research Team
We are working with the Henry Ford Learning Institute on designing 6th and 9th grade curriculums. We are also working with local schools to implement and learn from the work.

The Research Applications Team
How do we apply what we’ve learned? How does that change the student and teacher experiences?

We meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am until noon at the d.school.

Independent study credits available. Can’t commit regularly? E-mail us to discuss what’s possible, to learn more, or to sign up.
