Stanford Student Sponsored Outreach

SEEDS

SEEDS is an education program of the Ecological Society of America. Its mission is to diversify and advance the profession of ecology through opportunities that stimulate and nurture the interest of underrepresented students. Focused at the undergraduate level, opportunities sponsored by the program include student field trips, undergraduate research fellowships, ESA Annual Meeting travel awards, and campus ecology chapters.

The Stanford SEEDS Chapter was awarded a SEEDS special grant in 2008 which provided funding fo the REAL Program, which is part of a Stanford K-12 Initiative Grant and a partnership with the Sequoia Union High School District.  Stanford students are able to work closely with high school students at Redwood High School, about a 20 minute drive from Stanford campus. Students gain experience with mentoring, teaching, and developing course curriculum. To learn more about the REAL program please get in touch with one of the officers listed on the program website.
