The Stanford Scientific Magazine -- written, edited, designed and marketed by Stanford undergraduate and graduate students -- is published three times a year to inform both lay readers and experts about Stanford science and engineering research programs and to discuss associated ethical and social issues.
Stanford's School of Engineering students are involved in the student chapters of many professional societies.....from the American indian Science and Engineering Society to Women in Electrical Engineering.
The School of Engineering also provides grants to student associations for projects or activities that benefit the engineering community. Groups and individuals from the undergraduate and graduate communities are invited to apply for support from the SoE/OSA Dean’s Office. The review committee evaluates proposals on a quarterly basis. Stanford's student chapter of the Optical Society of America is active in outreach to K-12 students and teachers. We offer hands-on demos and exhibits at Stanford's Community Day and at professional development programs for local high school physics teachers.
