Stanford EXPLORE: A Lecture Series on Biomedical Research
Stanford Explore is an exploratory series covering the basic fundamentals and current research areas represented by the five Institutes of the Stanford School of Medicine (Immunology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular Medicine, Regenerative and Stem Cell Medicine, and Cancer Biology) as well as research areas in Bioengineering and Genetics. Participants are encouraged to sign up for all 4 weeks but may also sign up for just 1, 2 or 3 weeks. Cost is $750 per week.
Stanford graduate students and postdoctoral fellows will give many of the lectures with some topics offered by faculty. There will also be special seminars on topics such as health issues currently faced around the world Although the series is lecture-based, students will have opportunities to: 1) experience several hands-on demonstrations and simulation labs at Stanford; 2) participate in lunch discussions with undergraduate, graduate and medical school students; and 3) attend workshops on Careers in Science and Medicine which will feature talks by professionals working in different areas of science, medicine and medical sub-specialties.
